Regarding And Just Like That getting cancelled and horrible series finale: I have not watched any episode past Season 2, Episode 1 – a post still sitting in my drafts because this show is so horrible, do I really want to recap something I don’t even enjoy? Which brings me to…
The second movie – I remember it being horrible and racist and culturally insensitive, so do I really want to recap something I don’t even enjoy? Which brings me to…
I started this as an all or nothing project, so I should finish what I started. It just might take me a while.

So what is my entire point? I’ve been rewatching The Mindy Project and forgot that Chris Messina kind of disappeared during Season 4. Wanting to sus out the sitch, I turned to the Googles and fell down a rabbit hole in to a series called It Still Stings from Paste Magazine. One of their features is about how Carrie deserved better than Big.

I mean, who are we kidding? Carrie always chooses herself! But I think the original series had to end with all four women paired off, and they had to pair Carrie with Big. It was just always the end game. And she does not deserve better than Big – she had better, MUCH better, and threw him out. Nina Katz knows it, and you know it, too.
The choice of Big as her spouse, and the fact that they are all mega-rich in their 50s, reflects the values of the writers, producers, and actors and really what NYC is all about – material rewards are enviable, not spiritual or moral values. It’s the opposite of Schitt’s Creek. And it’s why we don’t like Big and we don’t like the new show. We’ve evolved in our 50s and the ladies have not.

There were many articles diving into this precise topic when the show was airing. But you nail it. The show was no longer even slightly relatable. Even the clothes! Yes, SATC was always a “fashion” show, but the women still had outfits that basically anyone could recreate: t-shirts, cute pants, dresses. But now absolutely EVERYTHING was over-the-top designer. Hell, a ball gown, to go to the post office, and that was one of several outfit changes that day.

You do NOT have to finish it. We don’t care. We do appreciate you trying.

Wait, are you saying that Aiden is better? Because absolutely not. He is a passive-aggressive “Nice Guy” (TM) who only wanted her so he could change everything about her. This is taken to 11 in the reboot, but it was present in the original series as well.
